Brookhaven Retreat's staff includes masters-level therapists and an experienced and dedicated medical staff consisting of nurses and a licensed psychiatrist. The ratio of staff to clients allows greater access to resources and personalized care.
Jacqueline Dawes began her career as a very successful developer of assisted living facilities. After losing her daughter to ecstasy use and then losing her husband a year later, she struggled to get back on her feet emotionally. Through her own determination, she followed her passion to help other families prevent the same sort of loss she experienced. After relocating to East Tennessee, her development background and skills enabled her to redevelop an old smokehouse on a family farm into a 16,000 square foot state-of-the-art treatment facility. Hiring the best clinical staff and sparing no expense or attention to detail, Jacqueline is living her dream - helping women reclaim their lives and take control of their bodies and spirits.
Robert Hamm, MD
Robert Hamm received his M.D. at Ross University School of Medicine. After completing his clinical training in Miami and New York City, he received his residency diploma in the field of psychiatry from East Tennessee State University. Dr. Hamm has worked in psychiatry for over eight years now. He enjoys working with clients on a number of different issues including depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, etc. He has extensive training and real-world experience with many complex client populations and enjoys these challenging and rewarding interactions.
Carol Marshall RN, PNP
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Carol Marshall is a psychiatric nurse practitioner with 10 years of experience. She specializes in co-occurring disorders. Ms. Marshall lives in Knoxville with her husband, she enjoys her grandchildren and working with horse related activities.
Erin Pressley, BS, MHS
A Chicago native, Erin Pressley is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. She graduated cum laude from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois with a bachelor of science in health sciences. From there, she proceeded to obtain her masters of health science physician assistant studies from South College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Erin has been an employee on our staff since 2012. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, being a newlywed, traveling and Crossfit workouts.
Darlene Jiles, MSW, LCSW
Darlene is originally from Louisiana. She received her B.A. in Family Life Studies from Louisiana College in Pineville, La. She earned a Masters Degree in Church Social Services from Fort Worth Baptist Theological Seminary as well as a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Houston. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Tennessee with over 18 years of experience mostly in the field of mental health.
She has worked in a variety of settings including partial hospitalization programs, mental health rehab, contract management for geriatric psychiatric inpatient programs, 24 hour crisis programs and both outpatient and residential treatment facilities. She manages Brookhaven Retreat's clinical staff and ensures that all aspects of the program are flowing smoothly. Darlene brings with her extensive administrative experience both supervising and ensuring quality of care in a mental health setting.
Mona Blanton-kitts, MSW, LCSW
Weekend Program Director
Mona received her masters of science in social work from the University of Tennessee and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Tennessee. She directs Brookhaven Retreat's program during the weekends. Mona brings with her extensive experience in the development and management of clinical programing and nearly three decades of experience working with trauma, emotional breakage and addiction.
Amy Massaglia, LCSW
Amy Massaglia received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology along with her Master of Social Work from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Tennessee and has worked in the field of mental health for over 10 years. Amy has worked in a variety of treatment settings primarily with dually diagnosed clients in both adolescents and adult populations. She has extensive training in a variety of clinical interventions including, risk assessment, crisis intervention and motivational enhancement. Amy joined the Brookhaven Team in 2009.
Carrie Fair, LMSW
Carrie Fair received her B.A. in Therapeutic Recreation from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She has both a Masters in Sports Management and a Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. She is a Licensed Masters of Social Worker in the state of Tennessee and has worked in the field of mental health for over 9 years. She has breadth of experience and knowledge working as a forensic social worker, an addiction counselor and has worked as a Recreation Therapist in the residential psychiatric field for many years. Here she facilitated adventure-based activities including high and low ropes elements. Her interests include trauma survival, substance abuse and empowering women. She is trained in EMDR and DBT and is a member of the National Association of Social Work (NASW).

Martha Stanojevich, LMSW
Martha Stanojevich received her bachelor's degree from Sewanee: The University of the South and her Masters of Social Work from the University of Kentucky. She has worked with both adults and adolescents throughout her career in residential, hospital and outpatient community mental health settings. She has received training in trauma focused CBT and is considered a qualified provider of TF-CBT by the NCTSN. Martha has provided DBT, CBT, reality therapy, anger management skills, parenting skills and eating disorder treatment in group and individual settings. Martha is currently licensed as an LMSW in the state of Tennessee.
Sharon Reid, LPC
Sharon Reid joined our team three years ago. She earned her bachelors degree from the University of TN and completed her masters studies at Carson Newman University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider and has worked in the mental health field for 21 years. Her skills include management of treatment programs and facilities, individual and family therapy, working with co-occurring adults and adolescents in both out patient and residential treatment settings. She has extensive training in a variety of clinical interventions including DBT, TF-CBT, crises interventions, risk assessments and motivational enhancement therapy.
Charity Bialik, RD
Charity graduated from Carson-Newman University with a B.S. in food, nutrition and dietetics. She then spent a year in Alaska completing a dietetic internship program through the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Charity has worked in a variety of settings including hospital inpatient, outpatient diabetes prevention programs, long-term care facilities, hospital and school food service, outpatient nutrition counseling and government supplemental food programs. In Alaska, Charity discovered native cuisine that included lean meats such as moose, caribou and reindeer, and wild plants and berries. Charity’s experience with the Alaska Native population confirmed her belief that people of all cultures and backgrounds can eat well in their own unique way.
Charity believes that we are given one body during this life and, if we are to live life to the fullest, must live in the best health possible, which means we must nourish the body through nutritious eating habits and regular physical activity. Charity focuses on eating mindfully and intuitively rather than jumping from diet to diet, and changing women’s perception of food to a source of nourishment and enjoyment rather than guilt and regret. If we can be healthy mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically, we are able to live a happy and vibrant life.
Julie Vaughan, MA, LPC, MHSP
Julie Vaughan received her B.S. in Psychology from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mental Health Service Provider and has worked in the field of mental health for over 16 years.
She has breadth of experience and knowledge working as a therapist in residential and outpatient settings as well as managing these programs. She has designed and managed women’s groups and recovery programs while teaching women how to explore themselves and become the best they can be. Julie specializes in meditative arts like tai chi and qigong and teaches clients to bring mindfulness to their everyday lives. She also has extensive training in experiential therapy to bring about successful change and awareness for women in the areas of substance abuse, trauma and mental health. Julie runs our Equine Therapy Program and she is an EAGALA Certified Therapist. She is certified to utilize horses experientially for mental health treatment and human development. This wonderful process brings about change in the individual through the non-verbal communication of the horse.
Alumnae Coordinator & Discharge Planner
Jessica is the point of contact for Brookhaven Retreat's alumnae. During a woman's stay at the facility, Jessica orients her to the many resources available to her as part of the Brookhaven alumnae community and helps coordinate her post-discharge care plan. She maintains alumnae website, email and phone communications and helps plan the much-anticipated annual retreats.
Erin Watson, LADAC, RAS
Lead Program Counselor
Erin Watson is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor in the state of Tennessee. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in child and family studies from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She received her Registered Addiction Specialist certification from Breining Institute in Orangevale, California. Erin has worked in the field of addiction recovery and co-occurring disorders for over 8 years. She has experience working with both adolescents and adults with co-occurring disorders in residential and outpatient settings. Erin received her certification as a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Instructor from Cornell University and has been teaching these skills for over 6 years. She has training in and experience using cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational enhancement therapy and 12 step facilitation in both group and individual therapy settings.
Amy received her Master of Science in Psychology from Walden University in 2010. She has had 5 years of consulting experience teaching men and women behavior modification techniques in order to set and reach attainable goals. As a program counselor, she leads groups focused on self care and life improvement skills on the weekends.
Program Counselor & Zumba Instructor
Dana Setzer is a 2008 summa cum laude graduate of East Tennessee State University. She has had training in dialectical behavior therapy, trauma, PTSD and traumatic grief. She also received her Zumba Instructor Basic Steps Level 1 License in July 2013. Besides art and creative expression, Dana has a strong passion for new opportunities in continuing her education and helping people.
Donita Berry, BS
Donita received her BS in Health and Human Science from the University of Tennessee in 2010. She has been with Brookhaven Retreat since 2011. In her role as program counselor, Donita leads fitness, nutrition and health related groups throughout the week.
April Chandler, BSN, RN
April Chandler received her BSN from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 2005. She is a Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee and has been in the mental health field since 2006. April joined the Brookhaven team in 2007.
Coangla "Coco" Ray, RN
Coangla Ray received her schooling in Nursing from Erlinger University. She is a Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee and has worked in the field of mental health for over 6 years. She has been an employee of Brookhaven Retreat since the opening of the facility.
Lee Anne Woody, BSN, RN
Lee Anne Woody received her BSN from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1995, and worked in critical care for 12 years. She joined Brookhaven Retreat’s team of nurses in 2009 and has been delivering outstanding care to the women in its program ever since. Lee Anne enjoys gardening, reading and spending time with her family.
Alicia Ogle, BA, ASN, RN
Alicia Ogle received her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Tennessee. She graduated with her ASN in nursing from Lincoln Memorial University in 2003 and worked in women’s health for five years before joining Brookhaven Retreat’s team of nurses in 2008. When not caring for the women at Brookhaven, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Amber Greene, RN
Amber Greene received her ASN in Nursing from Walters State Community College in 2011. She is a licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Tennessee. She has worked in Women's health for 3 years before joining the Brookhaven Staff. She enjoys spending time with family and being outdoors.
A Knoxville native, Kelley studied Business and Marketing at South College. Prior to joining Brookhaven Retreat she worked in Advancement for a local non-profit organization. As the first point of contact for Brookhaven, Kelley is delighted with the opportunity to help women take that all-important first step in their journey to healing.
An Indiana native, Nicole moved to Tennessee four years ago. She has an Associate's Degree in Business Administration and is currently working on her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Nicole has seven years of supervisory experience in corrections along with extensive experience in marketing, medical billing quality assurance and physician recruiting. She enjoys working with others and watching women succeed in a healthy life.

Mitzi graduated with honors from King University, where she received her B.A. in business administration in 2013. While attending, she was listed on the President’s List and Dean’s List for academic achievements. She received her A.A.S. in Marketing and Management in 1997, where she was also listed on the Dean’s list.
Mitzi brings over 15 years of accounting experience to her role as our Financial Administrator. She has gained extensive accounting knowledge through staff accountant and management positions for several CPA firms and manufacturing companies in the Knoxville area.

Jessica Wirth received her Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Tennessee with a major in public relations and a minor in business administration. She joined Brookhaven Retreat with a diverse background including public relations, marketing and web content management. She has experience in copywriting, editing, social media, event planning, website content management and both internal and external communications. An avid traveler, Jessica grew up between Europe and the U.S. and developed a love of linguistics that permeates her writing. She is enthusiastic about women’s issues and healthy living.

Diane graduated summa cum laude from LaGrange College in 1990 with a B.A. in business administration. She received her M.S. in management from Troy State University in 1993. Diane brings many years of experience in post secondary education, healthcare and financial fields. She enjoys reading and spending time with her husband of 45 years as well as her children and grandchildren.
Penny Lange, BA
Penny Lange received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Washington. She has an extensive experience base managing privacy and coordinating Brookhaven’s medical records department.
Medical Records Assistant
Kimberly Stormer received her dual major BA in Russian Studies and International Affairs from Western Washington University. She has extensive experience working in all manner of environments, both domestic and abroad, ensuring that all individuals have their organizational needs cared for. She has a wealth of experience in various healthcare settings and customer service arenas, which translates into effective logistics and operational coordination for both Brookhaven’s clients and staff.
A Knoxville native, Emily Stewart received her Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Tennessee with a major in public relations. Emily worked as a patient coordinator for four years prior to joining Brookhaven Retreat. She has experience in marketing, editing, graphic design and event planning.
Originally from Cookeville, Tennessee, Jeremy moved to Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee Culinary Institute, from which he graduated in the spring of 2012. Having previously worked in professional kitchens, Jeremy enjoys the one on one contact with the clients of Brookhaven Retreat and the part he can play in their recovery. Jeremy’s cooking style takes influence from his southern roots with touches of classic cuisine as well as world influences.
Lisa Antonelli graduated from the University of Tennessee Culinary Institute in spring 2012. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee. An avid baker all her life, Lisa specializes in baking and cake design and creates the afternoon tea menu at Brookhaven Retreat. Her elaborate confections are well loved among clients and staff, and are also often created with those with dietary restrictions in mind. When not in the kitchen, Lisa enjoys spending time with her Boston terrier, Jethro.
Charlotte has extensive experience in many cooking styles and uses this experience to meet clients’ unique dietary needs. She enjoys tailoring meals for women with allergies, health concerns or other restrictions and always has a smile and friendly word for staff and clients alike. When not at Brookhaven, Charlotte enjoys attending her church and spending time with her three daughters and husband.
Teresa Rankin Klenk, Esq.
Teresa Rankin Klenk, a native of Ashland City, Tennessee, graduated magna cum laude from Austin Peay State University in 1989 with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. She became a licensed Certified Public Accountant* in 1990 and worked as an accountant and a controller/accounting manager in the manufacturing industry before attending the University of Tennessee College of Law and graduating with honors in 1998.
In 2000, Ms. Klenk received an advanced LL.M. degree in Taxation from the New York University School of Law.
Ms. Klenk has been admitted and licensed to practice in all Tennessee courts, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee and the U.S. Tax Court. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Knoxville, Tennessee, Knoxville Estate Planning Council, East Tennessee Tax Liaison Committee, and American Bar Associations
Lynn Swisher, Ph.D.
Dr. Swisher is a senior consultant for Stevens & Lee in Lancaster, PA. She is a member of Brookhaven Retreat’s Professional staff consulting team specializing in performance improvement, regulatory compliance and organizational management. Dr. Swisher is board certified by the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians.
