Coconut oil has gained quite a bit of popularity recently, likely due to its versatility both inside and outside the kitchen. Not only is it a healthy fat to consume in various cooking preparations, it is an excellent addition to skin/hair care.
One of my favorite ways to use coconut oil is in baking, specifically homemade granola. Granola is fun because you can truly add as many ingredients to the mix as you like. I like to stick with a standard base of coconut oil, pure maple syrup, raw honey, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Add that mix to your old fashioned oats until well coated, bake, and then add a variety of fruits and nuts for texture. Homemade granola with blueberry Greek yogurt is one of my all-time favorite snacks!
As for the cosmetic side of things, I have found that massaging a tiny bit into damp hair after a shower really improves the shine and texture of my hair! Also, when the transition into Fall/Winter takes place, I'll turn to coconut oil as my go-to moisturizer for both my hands and my face.
