Beautiful Facilities

The Brookhaven Retreat Campus

The property at Brookhaven Retreat is nestled on a naturally beautiful 48-acre site secluded in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains. The grounds are superbly landscaped, adding to the tranquility and serenity that is needed to make the journey of introspection, self definition and emotional reconnection. Strolling though the woods or by the creek, jogging along the walking paths finding quiet places to meditate, journaling in gazebos, and contemplating on the porches all create private space opportunities. Each season has a beauty of it's own at Brookhaven Retreat, which experiences none of the extremes in weather. The grounds include a low ropes course, ball park, nature trails, and stabling for our four Tennessee Walkers, Izzy, Cairo, Candy, and Honeycomb. Families, including children, often enjoy this when visiting.

Our client rooms and common areas are furnished and decorated to provide a homey, comfortable healing environment.

Physical Fitness & Bodywork

Physical fitness promotes emotional and mental wellness and a variety of approaches are adopted to assist those that have allowed this to fall to the wayside, also those that already know this has been essential to their lifestyle. Onsite we have a range of light fitness activities which include walking, core exercises, stretching, dancing. Off site there is weight training, cardiovascular training and indoor swimming. A range of other specialized classes are available seasonally.

Holistic bodywork services, including acupuncture, reflexology, and massage are available off site. These types of services can be very useful for pain management issues.

Please don't worry if exercise has not been part of your life for a while as with a range of mood disorders, such as depression, postpartum, anxiety and many others, the motivation to do any type of exercise can become totally lost. For some women all effort can feel overwhelming, even unbearable. The self-start in you has been all but extinguished. Be reassured, this part of the program can be taken very slowly.

Restoration Meals

Meal times are an essential part of each day as self nourishing is part of self loving. Eating is about loving and nurturing. Needless to say, during the pangs of anxiety, panic, trauma and depression the ability to self-care declines, and one of the early manifestations is a change in eating patterns.

A delicious and nourishing meal prepared by Brookhaven Retreat chefs

Our chefs work to produce a spa cuisine that will motivate those that have lost interest in food and assist those that have become unaware of their eating patterns. The chefs work with the dietician and menu consultants to provide wonderful meals teaching the benefits of clean food, balance and variety and an understanding of what emotional eating is. There is very careful preparation that takes place using market fresh foods which the chefs themselves supervise the purchase of with emphasis on seasonal approaches and local produce. Any specific dietary needs or allergies can be discussed with the dietician and lead chef so meal planning accommodations can be put in place.

A variety of beverages, juices, snacks, fruits and salads are available continuously in the dining room.
