Brookhaven Retreat sends a small clinical team to participate in dialectical behavior therapy training August 4-8. The training, provided by Behavioral Tech, LLC, takes place in Cary, NC and is the conclusion of an intensive two-part series that began in February.
Dialectical behavior therapy teaches women with borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder and other multifaceted mental health issues the skills to manage their emotions, cope with distressing situations and the skills to maintain a successful recovery.
This clinical team successfully completed part one of the 10-day training in February, which concentrated broadly on learning, understanding and implementing the DBT skill set. Part two of the training is led by Tony Dubose, Psy.D., a recognized expert in dialectical behavior therapy and the Director of Training for Behavioral Tech, LLC.
The remaining 5-day training focuses on individual issues that are specific to Brookhaven Retreat’s distinct level of care and unique residential setting. This allows for the creation of protocols and procedures that are adaptable to Brookhaven Retreat’s exclusive residential facility.
Upon the completion of the DBT training, Brookhaven Retreat’s highly qualified clinical team will continue to work on applying dialectical behavior therapy into its 90-day treatment program. Brookhaven Retreat is invested in the education of its staff and committed to providing the highest level of care to women with mental health and substance abuse issues.
