Just as the new year is often a time for self reflection, the Poncho® Program focuses on analyzing a woman’s needs, wants and values in order to redefine and address key aspects of her daily life affected by substance abuse, trauma and mental health issues.
A balanced mixture of treatment in six main life areas contributes to successful long-term recovery. Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental needs must all be addressed in order to establish a healthy whole. The Poncho® Program focuses on each piece of a woman’s life provide stability and preparedness for life after treatment. With the help of a primary therapist, counselors, and a network of other women, a woman can learn to take charge of her life piece by piece.
Some of the areas addressed by the program include: legal issues, travel, employment, pets, marriage and family, spirituality and routines. Women start with the most important areas and finish with less critical areas on each individual’s own needs. Because the program is a complete rebuilding of a woman’s life, she is able to create security and success in recovery. When all aspects of life are addressed, women can return to life after treatment with more confidence and self-assurance to safeguard all aspects of life.
