Behavioral Tech, LLC, created by Marsha Linehan, Ph.D., is designed to help train mental health care providers and treatment teams who work with complex and severely disordered populations. Due to Dialectical Behavior Therapies success in these types of settings Jacqueline Dawes, founder and owner of Brookhaven Retreat, has provided her staff the opportunity to learn from those who work directly with the organization that was created by Dr. Linehan, creator of DBT.
DBT actively has a person dig deeper and deeper until the very root cause of a client’s current state of behavior is discovered. The second day of training with Behavioral Tech, LLC was a concentrated discussion about how to approach clients to validate their behaviors. The instructors incorporated role-playing into their teachings for the second half of the day. Their use of role-play to help demonstrate how to correctly apply DBT with client interaction allowed the staff of Brookhaven Retreat to see how DBT can work in real life scenarios.
