This week and next, Brookhaven Retreat staff are participating in the American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support and Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens training. This training is designed to keep client safety and concern a carefully managed priority.
Brookhaven Retreat’s Risk Manager, therapists, nurses and program counselors will be receiving this additional training on the use of personal protective equipment and operational procedures that helps maintain the highest standards of safety in a residential treatment center. This includes training on hand washing procedures, CPR, AED use and cleaning of work surfaces.
Proper safety precautions are not only a safety issue but also a therapeutic one. In order to close down the noises of life and allow a woman’s innermost self to be heard, she must feel safe and understood. Brookhaven places the safety and needs of clients first in order to pave the way for emotional growth and recovery. Only when a woman feels secure and free from external anxiety can she listen to her interior person and begin the healing process.
