I took out a loan, went a couple states away and put my trust into the staff at Brookhaven Retreat. I was never disappointed, every bit of money was put to good use and I got the very best care I feel I could have ever gotten. I walked in extremely nervous and numb, but walked out a month later confident and with a huge smile. Unfortunately, I was only able to stay one month, but if at all possible, I'd encourage women to finish the complete program.
The knowledge I gained during this time has helped me in so many times of need. I left Brookhaven Retreat with tools I didn't even know existed. You aren't locked up, you are free to go outside, there's a wonderful variety of groups throughout the day to participate in, comfortable sleeping arrangements, nutritious snacks available 24/7, healthy meals (I am overweight and lost around 30 lbs in one month), nurses are always right there if needed, and there's always a staff member to talk to regardless of time of day or night. After leaving Brookhaven, you are never forgotten! At no additional cost, there are follow up calls, and an aftercare program if you choose to do so that includes weekly conference calls, alumni reunions and a website designed just for Brookhaven alumni.
Almost 2 1/2 years later I still have daily contact with my Brookhaven sisters and cherish their support and friendship. The time was very well spent, money well spent and that's something you don't get in just any mental health program. This program goes above and beyond expectations. It's not a program that was chosen out of a book, but rather written by the owner and founder herself, Jacqueline Dawes. It's also a program that is kept up to date and fresh. I would recommend Brookhaven Retreat to anyone.
