Positive Affirmation Canvas Art Project

Sunday, 02 March 2014 10:45  by Emily S.

When we feel depressed, anxious or stressed often times we find strength in words. Inspirational quotes and verses have the ability to lift our mood and motivate us. Displaying decorative and encouraging words where they can be seen everyday is a great way for us to feel empowered.

Get inspired by making your own positive affirmation art. All you need for this project is:

  • A canvas
  • Fabric scrap
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Adhesive alphabet stickers
  • Staple gun or hot glue gun

First, use a staple gun or hot glue gun to neatly attach the fabric to your canvas. Next, use the alphabet stickers to outline your favorite inspiring quote. Make sure each letter is firmly placed on the fabric, so paint doesn’t get under it. Then, brush a layer of paint over the entire canvas, including the words. After the paint dries, peel the stickers off carefully. Lastly, put the canvas where it is visible to you every morning and take pleasure in it.

Art can be a therapeutic process in itself, letting us relax and de-stress. Focusing our attention and creativity on one project takes our mind off of outside stressors. With this project we can continue to reap the benefits of our artwork everyday. Hanging positive and encouraging words has the power to give us strength when we need it most.
