DIY Foot and Hand Scrub

Wednesday, 09 July 2014 00:00  by Emily S.

With a market full of products that emphasize the importance of taking care of our face, we often forget to give the same care to our hands and feet. Our feet and hands are constantly working, and during the summer months they are frequently on display. Soft hands and smooth feet are small acts of self-care that can bring great relaxation as you de-stress after a long day.

There is no need to purchase fancy foot and hand scrubs. Natural scrubs are easily made using ingredients you can find in your own kitchen or a quick trip to the grocery store. Here is an easy, homemade scrub that is perfect for taking care of your feet and hands.

Ingredients needed to pamper your feet:

  • ½ cup sugar (raw or brown): Sugar is the ideal natural exfoliant.
  • 2 teaspoons of coconut oil: Coconut oil is full of healthy fats, making it extremely moisturizing to the hands and feet.
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice: Lemon juice is a great cleanser and removes dead skin cells. It also strengthens the nail and can gradually fade blemishes.

It is pretty simple to make. Mix all ingredients together into an even consistency. If the mix is too rough, you can add more oil, and if it is too watery, add more sugar. I recommend using a small jar to store, that way it can be sealed tight for later use.
